In Australia, we used to have our annual State and National photography awards SAPPA and APPA). Then, Covid happened….and a bunch of other things, and these awards ceased to exist. I was the very last SA Family Photographer of the Year awarded for the AIPP State awards (!!), and it makes me sad that I won’t have the chance to push myself and put work out there in this way again, with my physical prints being judged here in Australia.
I always learned a lot from the judges feedback – not just on my prints, but on other people’s prints too. It’s helped shape the way I see my work, and create my work, and I’m so grateful for that.
So, this year I had a portfolio ready to go (that would just go to waste with APPA not going ahead), and I decided to enter them into WPPI – the most prestigious wedding, portrait and print competition in the world. The prints were sent over to Las Vegas and were judged live last week, and I’m so thrilled to have been awarded three Silver Awards (and three points towards my Honors of Excellence).
These are the five prints I entered into WPPI:
Silver Award – Amelia, Walker and Warrior
Silver Award – Forest and her Feathered Friend
Silver Award – Baby Hank the Lamb
These two prints missed out on an award by a mere point. A POINT! But I absolutely love them, so I’m sharing them anyway!!
